Room size - An eastern king size bed (200 x 200cm) typically suits rooms of around 4m x 4m (13ft x 13ft) or larger. If you want comfortable access on both sides and space for bedside tables, aim closer to 4.2m x 4.2m (13ft 9in x 13ft 9in). At this size, the room needs to be genuinely spacious, not just "probably big enough". Measure twice before ordering.
Measure for obstacles as well as walls - Chimney breasts, radiators, sockets, and skirting depth can all prevent the bed from sitting where you want it. Measure usable width at the height the bed frame sits, and check you’ll still have room for bedside tables and door/wardrobe opening arcs.
Bedding requires specific sourcing - Eastern king bedding is not widely stocked by UK high street retailers. Before ordering your frame, we recommend you find 200 x 200cm fitted sheets, bedding, and a suitable duvet you love. If you need one, we do offer made-to-measure mattresses in this size.

Eastern king size bed dimensions are typically 198cm x 198cm (W x L). Some people search for a 200x200 bed, and because we build to order, we can accommodate either size.
Often, no. While duvet sizes can be flexible, fitted sheets and mattress protectors need to match the mattress dimensions. For an eastern king mattress, we recommend buying bedding specifically sized for it.
At 200cm wide, an ottoman base introduces additional moving load and mechanical stress that can compromise long-term rigidity in a frame of this scale. For example, the mattress alone can weigh between 60-90kgs, enormous torsional strain on a single lifting frame and set of gas struts. We prefer to keep eastern king frames structurally solid and stable, so we don’t offer ottoman mechanisms.
If you need storage, we recommend choosing a storage-friendly frame with clearance for boxes, or options with drawers.
Our solid wood eastern king bed frames support up to 471kg (74 stone), achieved through solid timber construction, mortise and tenon joinery, and extra-thick slats that are double the industry standard thickness.
It's not commonly stocked by UK retailers, which is exactly why we offer it. Most UK bed manufacturers stop at super king (183 x 198cm). Because we build every frame to order, we can offer the eastern king as a standard size without the lead time or premium that a fully bespoke commission would usually carry.
