What Are The Environmental Benefits Of Using Solid Scandinavian Pine?

By George 22 April 2016

As a standard, all of our handmade wooden beds are constructed from a choice of either Solid Scandinavian Pine or Solid Hardwood. We use Solid Scandinavian Pine for a variety of reasons, but mostly it can be attributed to our efforts to source our timber sustainably. As a company that uses a large amount of timber, it’s important to us that we reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment as much as possible. To minimalise the damage done is one of our highest priorities and we take it very seriously. We're very proud of our sustainable beds.

We use Pine because it’s a solid, durable material that holds both aesthetically pleasing and sustainable properties. It grows the tallest out of every other strain in its species, which is very beneficial as it means less trees need to be cut down to gain the most timber for our beds. As part of our responsibility to the environment, we consider forest conservation to be as important as the quality both the beds and the service we provide.

Furthermore, the Solid Scandinavian Pine timber we use has been felled from forests that are approved for use as timber by the FSC (the Forest Stewardship Council), a body that governs the acceptable and sustainable use of trees. The Solid Scandinavian Pine we use is fast growing, so it’s easy to replant and reuse the ground the trees have come from.

We believe that doing the things we do to make sure our timber is sourced sustainably and nothing we use goes to waste make a significant difference in our contribution to the collection of industries that use timber in their products. It’s important to remember at all times that we have the privilege of using these resources and if we don’t take care of them, there won’t be any left. Deforestation is a huge issue around the world and it’s one we know we can solve together. Checkout our black Friday bed deals to findout how we are turning black Friday green
