Difference Between Our Designs: Finding the Perfect Match for Your Bedroom

By Lucy 30 September 2024

At Get Laid Beds, we offer a carefully curated collection of handcrafted wooden beds designed to suit various bedroom styles or spaces. Some of our beds come in similar designs with subtle differences, which we refer to as our ‘paired designs’. These beds have nuanced differences that can make a big difference depending on your preferences. In this article, we’ll explore the key differences between our popular paired beds and help you decide which one fits your bedroom needs.

  1. Oxford Bed vs. London Bed

Both the Oxford and the London beds share an elegant, modern style with clean lines and traditional features, but they differ slightly in their headboard heights.

Oxford Bed: The Oxford shares its frame design with our London Bed and has a taller headboard, which offers a bold yet elegant presence in any room. The taller headboard is perfect to make a stylish statement and beautifully frames your plumped pillows.

London Bed: The London Bed features a lower headboard, making it ideal for smaller rooms or spaces where a lower-profile bed is preferred. This design maintains the same modern aesthetic but with a slightly less dominant feature.

If you prefer a statement headboard, the Oxford Bed is your choice. However, if you have a smaller/lower space to work with and want a more understated look, ourLondon Bed is the way to go.

  1.       Japanese Storage Bed vs. Low Fuji Attic Bed

Our Japanese inspired beds offer a minimalist, close-to-the-ground design - perfect for achieving a zen-like space. This stylish blend of design that combines elements of Japanese and Scandinavian (Nordic) interior design has coined the phrase Japandi. Both sit in our Platform Collection and the primary differences between these beds come down to their frame heights.

Japanese Storage Bed: This bed combines sleek, low profile design with practical storage. It’s spacious, built-in under-bed storage is perfect for maximising space in smaller rooms or for those who prefer a clutter-free bedroom. The legs of the bed are subtly positioned underneath the frame, giving it an elevated, floating appearance that adds to its elegant, oriental aesthetic. The clean lines and integrated headboard make this a stylish yet highly functional piece of bedroom furniture.

Low Fuji Attic Bed: Tailored for spaces with low ceilings, such as attics or lofts, the low Fuji is extremely close to the ground. The legs are also tucked underneath the frame, which enhances its minimal, oriental-inspired design. This subtle detail contributes to a seamless, grounded look that makes it perfect for compact spaces without compromising on style.

If you need functionality and extra storage with a touch of elegance, the Japanese Storage Bed is ideal. For a minimalist, low-to-the-floor design suited to tight species, the Low Fuji Attic Bed offers a sleek and stylish solution.

  1. Low Tokyo Bed vs. Low Oriental Bed

Both the Low Tokyo and Low Oriental beds are perfect examples of functional, modern, and minimalist design, with both sitting close to the ground. But here’s how they differ:

Low Tokyo Bed: The Low Tokyo has a slightly higher headboard, giving you a modern touch while maintaining a simple and streamlined look. This makes an excellent choice for those who want a low-profile bed but appreciate the headboard’s added visual interest.

Low Oriental Bed: The Low Oriental Bed takes minimalism a step further with its even lower headboard, making the bed more unobtrusive. The style works wonderfully for rooms with limited wall space or for rooms with a more balanced, open feeling.

  1. Chelsea Bed vs. Kensington Bed

The Chelsea and the Kensington beds with their tilted headboards both feature our signature design, perfect for classic or contemporary rooms. They differ primarily in the number of footboard rails.

Chelsea Bed: The Chelsea features a two-rail footboard, which gives the bed a more intricate detailed appearance. This design adds a bit of elegance and symmetry to the bed’s overall look.

Kensington Bed: The Kensington, on the other hand, has a single rail on the footboard, offering a more elegant version of the Chelsea. This minor change gives the Kensington a cleaner, sleeker feel in any room.

Choose the Chelsea Bed if you appreciate added detail and want to make a bolder statement. If simplicity is your style, the Kensington Bed is a refined option.

  1. Four Poster Summer Bed vs. Four Poster Classic Bed

Our Four Poster Beds evoke a timeless and luxurious appeal. The difference between the Summer and Classic versions comes down to the footboard design.

Four Poster Bed - Summer: The Summer version features three footboard rails at the end of the bed, giving it a more detailed and ornamental appearance. This design is perfect for those who want their bed to feel like the centrepiece in their room.

Four Poster Bed - Classic: The Classic version has a single rail at the footboard, making it a simpler, more refined option while still exuding elegance and luxury. This is our CEO’s favourite Get Laid Bed design.

For those who want to enhance the grandeur of the four-poster style, the Summer Bed with its additional rails is a fantastic choice. For a timeless and clean look, the Classic Bed is perfect. Add our tailor drapes for a hint of timeless romance and luxury.

  1. Floating Bed vs. Shoreditch Bed

Both the Floating and Shoreditch Beds have a modern and contemporary design, but their structural differences offer a distinct visual appeal.

Floating Bed: The floating bed is designed to give the illusion that it is floating off the ground, creating a sense of spaciousness and modernity. Its minimal footprint makes it great for those who want a truly unique, gravity-defying look.

Shoreditch Bed: The Shoreditch Bed, while still modern and minimalist, features visible legs that ground it more firmly to the floor. This bed has a more traditional structure compared to the Floating Bed, but it maintains clean lines and a simple, elegant appearance. The Shoreditch design suits those who prefer a modern bed with a more conventional frame but still want to keep things sleek and contemporary.

If you’re after a striking, space-enhancing bed with a unique design, the Floating Bed is an excellent choice. For a modern bed that retains a grounded, structured look, the Shoreditch Bed offers a sophisticated yet traditional option.

Conclusion

When choosing between our bed designs, the decision often comes down to personal style preferences and your room requirements. Whether you want bold statements, minimalist designs, or subtle elegance, our diverse collection of bed designs  offers something for every taste. Explore each bed to find the perfect fit for your home and transform your bedroom into a sanctuary that reflects your unique personality.
